Western Greece delegation visits China to expand cooperation

An official delegation from the Region of Western Greece, led by Regional Governor Nektarios Farmakis, is conducting a visit to the People's Republic of China from September 20 to 29, 2026. The mission includes representatives from the Regional Association of Municipalities of Western Greece.

The visit aims to expand inter-regional cooperation and international networking, building upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 between Western Greece and the Zhejiang Province and the metropolitan area of Hangzhou. The delegation's itinerary includes stops in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing, featuring institutional meetings with the Greek Embassy in China, Greek consular authorities in Shanghai, and local authorities in Hangzhou and Zhejiang.

Key areas of focus for potential collaboration include digital transformation, innovation, culture, agri-food, and entrepreneurship. The mission seeks to establish stable communication channels and exchange best practices to enhance the developmental prospects of Western Greece and its municipalities.
