Western Greece discusses public health priorities with WHO and international experts

Dr. Anna Mastorakou, Vice Regional Governor for Public Health of Western Greece, has been engaging with international health organizations to discuss regional health priorities and innovation.

At the 25th Health World Conference, organized by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, discussions focused on the transition of global health systems, the use of new technologies, demographic challenges, and sustainable health service financing. Mastorakou shared the region's experiences in prevention, screening, and health education.

Additionally, the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Athens met with Mastorakou to discuss initiatives in Western Greece regarding mental health, health promotion, and healthy aging. These topics are noted as high priorities for the WHO's entire European region. Western Greece is also preparing to host the 31st Annual Meeting of the WHO European Network of Healthy Regions in November 2026.
