Western Greece Region announces subsidies for product certification

The Western Greece Region has announced a financial support program to assist in the certification of new local traditional products. The initiative aims to secure Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), and Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) status for regional goods.

The program is designed to encourage local producers and enhance the value of agri-food products from Western Greece in both national and international markets. Funding will specifically cover the costs of preparing and submitting the necessary technical files to the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.

Eligible applicants include agricultural cooperatives, producer groups, and interprofessional organizations based in the regional units of Aetolia-Acarnania, Achaia, and Elis. The project is scheduled to run from September 2026 through June 2028, with the first phase of application evaluations expected to conclude by December 2026.
