Western Greece Regional Council supports Hellenic Open University workers

The Regional Council of Western Greece has unanimously approved a resolution to support the employees of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) and ensure their labor rights. The initiative, proposed by the regional faction ‘New Western Greece’, was supported by the Regional Authority and all other political factions present.

The resolution addresses critical issues facing HOU staff, including terms of indefinite employment contracts, work locations, travel, and off-site employment. It also highlights concerns regarding employee compensation and salary deductions related to strike actions.

To ensure the decision leads to tangible results, Spyros N. Skiadaresis, leader of ‘New Western Greece’, proposed the immediate formation of an inter-party committee. This committee, alongside HOU employee representatives, will seek a meeting with the relevant Minister to request direct government intervention and a final resolution to these labor disputes.
