Western Kentucky women's soccer beats Murray State 4-1 in preseason

The Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers women's soccer team opened its 2026 preseason with a 4-1 victory over the Murray State Racers on August 5 at the WKU Soccer Complex. Danielle Lewin scored the opening goal in the 10th minute, followed by April McDonald’s decisive strike in the 48th minute after a corner from Georgia Liapis. Sophia Lezizidis and Rose Finnegan added goals in the second half, while the Hilltoppers outshot Murray State 19‑3 and recorded 15 corner kicks. Coach Jason Neidell praised the performance, noting the team’s improved second‑half play and the strong contributions from newcomers.

The team will close out the preseason with a second exhibition against Samford on August 7, also at the WKU Soccer Complex. Admission to all WKU women's soccer matches remains free, and the Samford match will not be streamed.
