Western Kenya farmers report higher yields amid lower fertilizer costs

Farmers in Western Kenya report improved food production capabilities due to lower fertilizer prices and increased access to modern agricultural equipment. The availability of affordable inputs, combined with government-supported irrigation infrastructure and water pumps, has allowed farmers to expand the amount of land they can cultivate.

Local farmers noted that previous challenges, such as poor drainage, limited water access, and heavy reliance on manual labor, have been mitigated by these developments. Improved access to dependable, high-quality fertilizer has also enabled more consistent yields and expanded production in regions such as Kakamega and Kitale.
