Torrential rains and flash floods have caused widespread destruction across western Libya, impacting numerous cities including Mizdah, Nasmah, Bani Walid, and Ghat. The extreme weather has led to significant infrastructure damage, including collapsed bridges, fallen electricity poles, and the destruction of homes. In Mizdah, initial estimates suggest over 1,000 homes have been damaged, while the city faced general power outages and landslides.

In Nasmah, the mayor declared the municipality a disaster zone following the overflow of wadis and damage to government buildings and approximately 20 homes. Emergency services and the Libyan Red Crescent have been active in rescuing residents trapped in their homes or vehicles swept away by mudflows. In Bani Walid, rescue teams worked to extract citizens from vehicles caught in mud currents.

Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah has ordered the immediate mobilization of all available resources to assist affected areas and restore essential services, including electricity, water, and telecommunications. The National Meteorological Center has warned that heavy thunderstorms may continue to affect the northwestern and southwestern regions of the country.
