Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority strengthens security and tax measures

The Management Committee of the Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority, chaired by Matteo Paroli, has approved measures to strengthen security and reorganize funding across the ports of Genoa, Prà, Savona, and Vado Ligure.

A key decision involves extending the port tax surcharge on loaded and unloaded goods to the Savona and Vado Ligure ports, effective November 1, 2026. This measure aims to harmonize contribution methods across all four ports and fund increased surveillance, gate security, and technological control systems necessitated by expanding infrastructure and rising personnel costs. In 2027, the authority will also evaluate costs for enhancing cybersecurity for digital port infrastructures.

Additionally, the committee approved support for worker redeployment and terminal operational improvements. This includes a 111,500 euro contribution to the ‘Pippo Rebagliati’ port company in Savona to cover costs incurred during the second quarter of 2026. The authority will also participate in a new non-profit foundation to manage a historic complex, supported by PNRR funds, with a projected completion date in 2027.
