Western Macedonia Governor addresses flood protection and military issues

George Amanatidis, the Governor of Western Macedonia, has held separate meetings to address regional concerns in Kastoria and Kozani.

In the Maniaki area of Kastoria, the Governor met with residents to discuss flood protection following severe flooding in January 2026. To mitigate future risks, a project to clean local streams with a budget of 265,000 euros is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026. The works aim to remove vegetation and debris to improve water flow.

In Kozani, the Governor met with the Kozani Military Association. Discussions focused on the daily challenges faced by active-duty military personnel, particularly regarding unit relocations and the abolition of certain units. The Governor pledged support for the association and cooperation on infrastructure and social integration of the armed forces within the local community.
