Western Macedonia plans two-phase repairs for Polyfytos Bridge

The Region of Western Macedonia has announced a two-phase plan to carry out necessary interventions on the Polyfytos Bridge following recent technical studies. During a meeting held on September 29, 2026, Regional Governor Giorgos Amanatidis outlined a strategy to ensure citizen safety and maintain the functionality of this critical road infrastructure.

The first phase will focus on immediate measures to address urgent issues. The second phase is a medium-term plan designed to provide comprehensive reinforcement and long-term structural integrity.

To ensure the reliability of the technical findings, the Region has commissioned a specialized team of experts and is working closely with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which serves as a technical advisor providing scientific support for the evaluation of data and the formulation of final proposals.
