Western Macedonia showcases regional transition and tourism investment

The Western Macedonia Region held an event at the Syntagma Metro Station in Athens titled ‘A place that changes, a Region in transition’ to showcase its evolving tourism map. The presentation highlighted the region's potential for four-season tourism, emphasizing industrial tourism as a competitive advantage. Key attractions mentioned include the Museum of Industrial Heritage, mines, power plants, and technological assets like data centers.

During the event, Dr. Dimitris Derpanis, President of D GROUP, announced a strategic plan for the future of the Vasilitsa National Ski Center. Through the group's company, U Resort, a 36-million-euro investment is planned to fully remodel, modernize, and operate the center for the next 40 years. The goal is to transform Vasilitsa into a year-round mountain destination to support the economic transition of Western Macedonia and the broader region.
