Western Naga Youth Front demands probe into armed threat

The Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF) has issued a strong condemnation following an alleged armed threat incident at Jalukie ‘B’ village in the Peren district on September 20, 2026.

According to reports, unidentified individuals carrying sophisticated weapons appeared at the residence of R. John Zeliang, the president of the Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland (ZYFN). The WNYF described the incident as a serious threat to public peace, security, and the rule of law, stating it has “zero tolerance” for armed intimidation or the use of coercion to settle differences.

The organization has called on competent authorities to conduct a swift and impartial investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible. The WNYF expressed solidarity with Zeliang and the Zeliangrong community, while appealing to all sections of society to exercise restraint to prevent escalating tensions and maintain peaceful coexistence in Nagaland.
