Western Power faces culture review after second sexual assault claim
Western Power is facing an independent investigation into its workplace culture following a second credible sexual assault complaint. Energy Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson revealed that her office received a 'very credible' historic allegation from a former employee, suggesting that the previous conviction of Jeffrey Spinner for raping a colleague in 2024 was not an isolated incident.
In the wake of the Spinner case, Western Power and CEO Gair Landsborough reported being inundated with complaints from current and former staff regarding the organization's culture. Additionally, several employees who provided character references for Spinner have been stood down pending a review.
The independent review will be conducted by the advisory firm Intersection, led by founder Natasha de Silva and former Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins.
