Western Regional Minister warns contractors over project delays in Ghana

Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has issued warnings to contractors regarding significant delays in infrastructure projects within the region. During a site inspection of the Amenfi Central 24-hour economy market, Nelson informed TEK Constructions that the government may terminate and re-award their contract if construction progress does not accelerate. The Minister noted that the current pace of work is unsatisfactory and cited a previous contract termination in Mpohor due to non-performance as a precedent.

Simultaneously, residents and traditional leaders along the 52-kilometre Bawdie–Asankragwa road are demanding the removal of Asabea Construction. The community has reported repeated project abandonments and expressed safety concerns following the death of a young girl who fell into an open drain at the site. The road serves as a vital transport link connecting the Amenfi East, Amenfi Central, and Amenfi West constituencies, but deteriorating conditions and unfinished drainage works have led to increased road accidents.
