Western Sydney Wanderers seek redemption in A-League season opener

The Western Sydney Wanderers are preparing for a new Isuzu UTE A-League Men campaign, beginning with a Sydney Derby against rivals Sydney FC on October 16 at Allianz Stadium. Following a season in which the club finished last, the team is undergoing a period of significant transition under new head coach Ufuk Talay.

Midfielder Dylan Scicluna stated that the playing group has confronted the failures of the previous season by taking accountability and implementing changes. Scicluna noted that the squad has benefited from a strong pre-season and a clear direction from Talay, which has helped the players gel and build confidence.

The squad has also seen the return of Nicolas Milanovic, a Johnny Warren medallist who previously played for the club before a stint with Aberdeen. Scicluna described Milanovic as a ‘game-changer’ who provides a significant boost to the team's attacking capabilities.
