Western Tatras rescuers locate four missing Polish tourists

Slovak mountain rescuers from the Žarská Dolina station have located four Polish tourists who had gone missing in the Western Tatras. The group was found unharmed, camping in sleeping bags near a shelter in the Jamnická Valley.

The search operation was initiated after the women lost contact with their families on a Saturday evening while in the vicinity of Hrubý Vrch. Slovak police assisted the Horská Záchranná Služba (HZS) by helping to track the location of the tourists' mobile phones.

Authorities have issued warnings regarding current mountain conditions. There is a level one avalanche threat in the Western Tatras, with snow depths between 15 and 30 cm above 1700 meters. Rescuers noted that wet snow on sunny slopes can lead to small, spontaneous avalanches.
