Western University researchers trial FMT capsules for anorexia

Researchers at Western University, the London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute, and the Lawson Research Institute are launching a clinical trial to investigate the use of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) capsules for treating anorexia nervosa.

The study aims to determine if these tasteless and odorless capsules, derived from healthy donors, can restore a healthy gut microbiome. Researchers believe that correcting microbial disturbances may influence the gut-brain connection, potentially improving nutrition, food choices, and emotional processes in patients with the eating disorder.
