Western US faces dangerous fire weather and Red Flag Warnings
The National Weather Service has issued widespread Red Flag Warnings across several western United States states due to dangerous fire weather conditions. High winds, warm temperatures, low humidity, and dry fuel loads are expected to create significant wildfire risks, particularly on Friday.
The Storm Prediction Center has identified large areas at risk, including Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Northeast Wyoming is facing critical fire weather conditions, while other dangerous conditions may affect California, Nevada, and Idaho.
Forecasts indicate gusty winds could exceed 50 mph on Friday, with sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph, especially in areas east of the Rockies in Montana and Wyoming. These conditions are expected to persist ahead of a major weather pattern change this weekend that will bring cooler and wetter conditions to the region.
