Western US weather to shift with cold front and mountain snow
A significant weather shift is expected across parts of the Western United States, bringing cooler temperatures and precipitation. In the Colorado region, warm and dry conditions will persist through Tuesday, with afternoon highs in the 70s. However, a cold front arriving late Tuesday night will trigger a dramatic change by Wednesday. This system is expected to bring rain to the I-25 corridor and snow to higher elevations in the mountains, with snow levels dropping to between 7,000 and 8,000 feet.
In the Desert Southwest, temperatures are trending well below normal due to an upper-level low-pressure system. While conditions remain mostly dry and sunny through midweek, breezy conditions with wind gusts between 20-35 MPH are expected. Another system may bring gusty winds and dust toward the end of the week.
By Thursday and Friday, much of these areas will experience cooler, clearer conditions, though frost and freeze alerts may be possible in certain locations before a potential warm-up over the weekend.
