Western Washington University favored in GNAC cross country preseason poll

Western Washington University has been named the preseason favorite to defend its Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) cross country titles in 2026. In the preseason coaches poll, both the men’s and women’s Viking teams received maximum support, earning 100 points and all 10 first-place votes respectively.

The 2026 GNAC Cross Country Championships are scheduled for November 7 at the Ash Creek Preserve, hosted by Western Oregon University.

In regional high school sports, the Wesco 3A Central football coaches poll has released its preseason predictions for the 2026 season. Snohomish is projected to finish in first place, followed by Everett and Monroe. Cascade High School, entering a new era under coach Richard Stuart, is looking to rebuild following a winless season in Wesco 4A.
