Westerwolde's Montmartre Art Market Draws Thousands Amid Summer Festivities
The 33rd edition of the Montmartre art market took place in Sellingen, Westerwolde, under sunny conditions. Hundreds of artists displayed paintings, ceramics, handmade jewellery and more across four village squares, while live performances of French chansons, Celtic music, jazz and acoustic sets entertained visitors. Food trucks offered crêpes, burgers, coffee and local beer, and children enjoyed craft workshops and a live‑painting studio.
A short distance away in Vlagtwedde, the annual Oldtimer and Special Cars day attracted about 250 historic vehicles, including Ferraris, American classics and a Fiat 500 painted by friends of Herman Brood. The motor‑show added a nostalgic contrast to the French‑themed art market, drawing large crowds to the streets of both villages.
