Westfalen-Gruppe opens new propane production plant in Münster

The Westfalen-Gruppe has officially commissioned a new production facility in Münster-Gelmer, Germany, dedicated to manufacturing high-purity propane (R290). The project, which followed an eighteen-month construction period, represents a low double-digit million euro investment.

Propane serves as a natural refrigerant with a low global warming potential (GWP 0.02) and is increasingly critical for the heat pump market. The company aims to leverage this new capacity to meet growing demand within its energy supply and industrial gases business sectors, ensuring a reliable supply for the expanding heat pump technology market.

The inauguration was attended by several officials, including Gitta Connemann, the Federal Government Commissioner for SMEs, and Tillmann Fuchs, the Mayor of Münster.
