Westfield fire station hit by stray bullet, narrowly missing firefighter
A stray bullet pierced the roof and ceiling of Westfield Fire Station No. 2 on Bentley Road in Harris County, Texas, on a Saturday night. The projectile landed only feet away from a firefighter who was preparing for bed.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Fire Chief Adrian Dillehay described the event as “traumatizing” for the crew, noting that three firefighters were present at the station at the time. While investigators have not yet determined the origin of the bullet, officials believe it may have been the result of celebratory or careless gunfire.
Chief Dillehay emphasized the dangers of shooting firearms into the air, reminding the public that such actions are illegal and that bullets can travel significant distances before falling back to earth. Despite the incident, the firefighters returned to duty within 24 hours.
