Westfries Museum lecture on restoration and archaeology in Hoorn

On Thursday 27 August, the Westfries Museum together with the Archaeological Service West‑Friesland and the Hoorn municipality will hold a public lecture titled “Van fundering tot vondst” in the Oosterkerk (Grote Oost 58). The event runs from 20:00 to 22:00, is free of charge, and requires advance registration for a maximum of 350 attendees.

Speakers include museum director Amanda Vollenweider, architect Boudewijn van Langen, city archaeologist Christiaan Schrickx and archaeologist Michiel Bartels. They will discuss the ongoing foundation‑repair and restoration of the 17th‑century museum complex and present archaeological discoveries made during the work, such as the remains of what may be Hoorn’s oldest stone house and a range of medieval artifacts that illuminate daily life in the city.
