Westin Hokkaido Furano Resort to open in summer 2029

Marriott International, Sekisui House, and Pacifica Hotels have announced plans to open the Westin Hokkaido Furano Resort in Furano, Hokkaido, scheduled for summer 2029. This development marks the first Westin brand presence in both Hokkaido and the Furano region.

Owned by Sekisui House and operated by Pacifica Hotels, the nine-story facility will feature approximately 195 guest rooms and suites. The resort is planned to include various amenities such as restaurants, bars, a spa, fitness facilities, indoor and outdoor baths, and function rooms for business events.

Construction is expected to have commenced in August 2026. The project aims to bolster Furano's status as an international tourism destination, leveraging the area's seasonal appeal, including summer lavender fields and winter snow conditions. Sekisui House intends to link this project with its existing 'Fairfield by Marriott' roadside hotels to promote regional tourism throughout Hokkaido.
