Westinghouse Polska targets year-end EPC contract for nuclear project

Mirosław Kowalik, President of Westinghouse Polska, has stated that the company aims to sign an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract by the end of the year. This agreement is critical for the development of Poland's nuclear power program, as delays could impact the national power system.

Negotiations are currently ongoing between Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) and the Bechtel-Westinghouse consortium. A primary focus of these discussions is the level of local content, addressing the Polish government's requirements for the involvement of domestic businesses in the project. The goal remains to have the first nuclear power plant block operational by 2036 to support Poland's energy transition and the phase-out of coal-fired units.
