WestJet expands Latin America and Caribbean winter schedule

WestJet has announced its largest-ever winter schedule for the 2026/2027 season, targeting Latin America and the Caribbean. The airline plans to increase its overall capacity to the region by 12% year-over-year, operating up to 1,252 weekly flights across 88 unique non-stop routes.

The expansion focuses heavily on Western Canadian markets. Saskatoon will see a 77% capacity increase, including additional weekly flights to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Regina will experience 64% growth, featuring new non-stop service to Los Cabos. Edmonton's capacity will rise by 34%, doubling weekly flights to Los Cabos and Montego Bay, while Winnipeg will see a 26% increase with new services to Belize City and Punta Cana.

In its main hub of Calgary, capacity will grow by 18%. WestJet is also strengthening its position as Canada’s largest carrier to Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and Aruba. John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet Group, stated that the expansion responds to sustained growth in demand for vacation travel.
