Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service CEO Steven Underwood to retire

Steven Underwood, the chief executive of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year. Underwood cited advice regarding an underlying medical condition as the reason for his decision to step down.

A former Royal Air Force pilot with 25 years of service, Underwood joined the organization in December 2023. His retirement marks the conclusion of a distinguished aviation career that includes extensive senior leadership experience in the commercial sector.

John Fenwick, Chair of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service board, praised Underwood for his decisive leadership and commitment to the organization’s aeromedical and search and rescue capabilities during a period of significant change.
