Wet N' Wild Waterworld is the 3rd oldest waterpark in the US
Wet N' Wild Waterworld, located in Anthony, Texas, near El Paso, is recognized as the third oldest waterpark in the United States.
The park was established in 1979 by attorney and businessman Berry H. Edwards, who purchased a KOA campground and expanded it into a waterpark after researching existing facilities in California. Originally known as Wet N' Wild Waterslides, the park began with only two slides, Blue Streak and Corkscrew, and utilized a diesel engine to pump water.
In the hierarchy of American waterparks, it follows Lake Dolores Waterpark in Southern California, which opened in 1962, and the original Wet N' Wild in Orlando, Florida, which opened in 1977.
