Wetzlar district parking garage to undergo demolition and reconstruction

Preparatory work for the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the district parking garage at Karl-Kellner-Ring in Wetzlar is scheduled to begin in late August. The project involves a coordinated effort between the Lahn-Dill-Kreis and the city of Wetzlar to manage traffic impacts.

Starting August 26, lane closures will be implemented on Karl-Kellner-Ring and Moritz-Hensoldt-Straße, which is expected to cause traffic delays. The site will be officially established on August 31, followed by the clearing of the existing structure. Demolition is slated to begin around September 15. While the building will be largely dismantled, the two stairwells and the lowest level will be preserved and integrated into the new steel and concrete system parking garage. The new structure is intended to maintain the same number of parking spaces and general design as the current facility.
