WeWork and Michael Page study examines labor trends in Peru and Chile

A study conducted by WeWork and Michael Page, titled ‘La experiencia laboral 2026’, explores evolving workplace dynamics in Latin America, specifically focusing on Peru and Chile.

In Peru, the research addresses the debate surrounding the four-day workweek. While some companies have experimented with this model, the study notes that one in four participants does not consider it viable. The implementation of a shorter week raises questions regarding whether it would involve reducing total hours or concentrating responsibilities into longer, more intense workdays. Experts suggest that for such a change to be sustainable, companies must carefully manage deadlines, responsibilities, and team recovery times.

In Chile, the study highlights a significant gap between professional preferences and current reality regarding hybrid work. While 62.3% of surveyed professionals prefer a hybrid model, only 33.1% currently work under such an arrangement. The preference is largely driven by the desire to reduce commuting times—a critical factor given Santiago’s high traffic congestion—and to improve work-life balance. Other cited benefits include perceived increases in individual productivity.
