WEX launches Standard Fleet platform and AI fraud tool for fleets
WEX announced that eligible commercial‑fleet customers can now use the Standard Fleet connected‑vehicle platform, which provides digital keys, remote vehicle access and device‑free telematics across more than 30 vehicle brands. The solution, unveiled at the WEX Venture Capital Summit in Portland, Maine, links directly with supported manufacturers and requires no aftermarket hardware installation. "Making Standard Fleet available through WEX gives customers a faster, simpler way to connect supported vehicles," said Carlos Carriedo, WEX’s chief operating officer for Americas Payments and Mobility, while Standard Fleet founder David Hodge highlighted the value of device‑free telemetry.
In a related rollout, WEX will add an AI‑powered fraud‑prevention feature called SecureFuel to its WEXOnline platform for North American fleet customers on Aug. 3. SecureFuel analyzes fuel‑card transaction data, telematics and AI models to flag suspicious purchases before approval, helping curb unauthorized fuel use amid volatile fuel prices. "SecureFuel gives us a more complete view of each purchase, assisting customers in stopping unauthorized transactions," Carriedo added. WEX CEO Melissa Smith said the addition reflects the company’s broader strategy of embedding AI across its mobility‑payment services, which represent about half of its annual revenue.
