WeXchange Forum addresses social innovation in Casablanca

The fifth edition of the WeXchange Forum, organized by the Abdelkader Bensalah Foundation, took place in Casablanca, Morocco, on October 22. Under the theme ‘Collaborate to Make an Impact’, the event brought together public, private, academic, and associative stakeholders to discuss social initiative financing, entrepreneur support, and stakeholder coordination.

Participants identified several barriers to impactful social projects, specifically citing difficulties in accessing financing, structuring economic models, and the need for tailored support. Saïd Jabrani, General Director of Tamwilcom, noted that financing must be paired with viable economic models and structural support to ensure entrepreneurial success.

The forum also highlighted significant funding gaps in the cultural and creative industries. While this sector contributes over 2.7% to Morocco’s GDP and generates more than 45 billion dirhams in revenue, only 3% of cultural enterprises have access to financing, representing less than 0.5% of total business credit.
