Weymouth FC implements water-conservation measures to maintain pitch
Weymouth FC has achieved a strong start to the season with three wins in their opening three games. Alongside their on-field performance, the club has received recognition for maintaining a high-quality pitch despite prolonged dry weather and drought conditions.
The club’s volunteer grounds team implemented several water-conservation techniques and technologies to manage the dry spell. These measures included the application of a specialist wetting agent to improve water penetration to the roots and the use of slow-release fertilizer designed for drought conditions.
To support regional conservation efforts and follow guidance from Wessex Water, the club has also taken practical steps to limit usage, such as temporarily switching off irrigation systems. The maintenance project involved collaboration with experts from Wildwood Machinery, Dorset County FA, AFC Bournemouth, and Weymouth Golf Club.
