Whalefall trailer released for upcoming survival thriller

20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment have released the official trailer for ‘Whalefall’, a survival thriller based on the novel by Daniel Kraus. Directed by Brian Duffield, the film stars Austin Abrams as Jay Gardiner, a diver who is swallowed by a massive sperm whale while searching for his late father’s remains off the coast of California.

Trapped inside the whale with only one hour of oxygen remaining, the protagonist must rely on lessons taught to him by his father, played by Josh Brolin, to attempt an escape. The production involved building a whale set on a sound stage in Studio City, California, to capture the intense, claustrophobic atmosphere of the story.

The film features an ensemble cast including Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudd. ‘Whalefall’ is scheduled for an international theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
