WhatsApp adds group calls on Web, Nothing plans first smart watch

WhatsApp, the Meta‑owned messaging service, announced a suite of new calling features for WhatsApp Web. Users can now make and receive individual or group audio and video calls directly in a browser, with end‑to‑end encryption, no time limits and no extra charge. Added tools include screen sharing, reactions, a Calls tab, call transfer between devices, a Waiting Room that requires host approval, QuickHD video quality from the start of a call, and noise suppression to reduce background sound.

Separately, leaked specifications indicate that British tech company Nothing is preparing to launch its first smartwatch under the primary Nothing brand, likely in September. The device is expected to feature a premium metal case, an AMOLED display, integrated GPS, Bluetooth calling, health‑tracking sensors and a multi‑day battery life, with a projected price of about $300. The watch would extend Nothing’s ecosystem beyond smartphones and earbuds, marking the brand’s entry into the wearable market.
