WhatsApp adds in‑call microphone mode controls for iPhone

WhatsApp is rolling out a new in‑call feature that lets iPhone users switch between Apple’s four microphone modes—Automatic, Standard, Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum—directly from the call screen. The change eliminates the need to open the iOS Control Center, allowing users to adjust audio processing with a tap in the app’s “More” menu.

The update is being deployed gradually and is supported on iPhone XR, XS and newer models running iOS 15 or later for Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum, while Automatic requires iOS 18. Settings persist between calls, so a chosen mode remains active until changed.

In the same release, WhatsApp has begun rolling out Apple’s “Liquid Glass” interface for its Mac application, featuring a translucent sidebar and redesigned navigation elements.
