WhatsApp and Wompi announce new service fee structures
WhatsApp Business is set to implement a new charging system starting October 1 for companies using the Business Platform (API). This change specifically targets businesses that integrate the platform with CRM systems, chatbots, or other automation tools. While the standard free WhatsApp Business app remains unaffected, companies using the API will be limited to 1,000 free service messages per month. Once this limit is exceeded, additional messages will incur costs. In Chile, industry estimates suggest the cost could range between $15 and $22 per message.
In Colombia, the payment platform Wompi has announced a reduction in transaction fees for QR code payments, setting a 1% commission for successful transactions via Bancolombia and Nequi accounts for individuals. Wompi is also expanding mobile payment capabilities, allowing compatible Android devices with NFC technology to function as contactless card readers, bypassing the need for traditional dataphones. Other transaction methods, such as the advanced plan or Nequi Negocios, maintain different fee structures.
