WhatsApp develops new in-app payment features for iOS

WhatsApp is developing a new centralized payments section for iOS, according to findings from the iOS beta version 26.33.10.70. While Meta has not officially confirmed a launch date, the interface discovered by WABetaInfo suggests the platform is preparing to expand its financial services to several new markets.

The new interface would allow users to manage credit and debit cards, billing addresses, and shipping information directly within the app. It also includes a feature for peer-to-peer transfers, enabling users to send money to contacts within a chat interface.

Although WhatsApp Payments is currently active in markets like India, Brazil, Singapore, and Mexico, the new beta code includes a country selector that lists several potential expansion targets, including Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Ghana, and the United States. The implementation of these services in new regions will likely depend on local financial regulations and agreements.
