WhatsApp ends support for older Android and iOS versions

WhatsApp is ending support for several older mobile operating systems to maintain security and performance standards. For Android users, the application will no longer be compatible with versions 5.0 or 5.1. The minimum required operating system will be Android 6.0.

This change affects both WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business. Impacted Android devices include older models such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 Mini, Note 2, and various Motorola, LG, and Sony Xperia models. Additionally, some iOS users may lose access if their devices cannot update to at least iOS 15.1, including older iPhone models like the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, and 6.

Users with unsupported devices are advised to back up their conversations via Google Drive or local storage before the transition to prevent data loss.
