WhatsApp features for privacy and storage management

WhatsApp offers several built-in features to manage user privacy and device storage. Regarding privacy, users can exit group chats more discreetly through a function often referred to as ‘ghost mode’. When a user leaves a group, the standard notification is no longer sent to all participants; instead, the exit notification is restricted solely to the group administrators. While other members can still see who has left by reviewing the participant list, they will not receive an automatic system message.

To manage device storage, WhatsApp provides a storage management tool located within the ‘Storage and Data’ settings. This feature allows users to identify and delete large multimedia files, such as videos, photos, and voice notes, without deleting entire chat histories. The tool organizes files by size and identifies frequently forwarded content, enabling both individual and bulk deletions. On Android devices, users are advised to also clear their phone's gallery trash to fully reclaim space, while iPhone users can manage files directly through the app's settings.
