WhatsApp imposes mass account blocks over policy violations

In recent days, a large number of WhatsApp users reported that their accounts were suspended or blocked. Meta explained that the actions are taken when its security systems detect activities that breach the platform’s Terms of Service. Common reasons include sending bulk or repetitive messages to contacts who have not saved the sender’s number, using unofficial or modified WhatsApp clients such as GB WhatsApp or WhatsApp Plus, automating messages with unauthorized tools, accumulating complaints or blocks from other users in a short period, and creating excessive groups or adding contacts without consent.

For WhatsApp Business accounts, Meta has tightened controls in 2026, especially against campaigns that send messages without prior recipient consent or that rely on external, unapproved platforms. Blocked users see a “This account can’t use WhatsApp” notice and can request a review inside the app. If Meta determines the suspension was an error, the account may be restored; otherwise, the block can remain permanent. Specialists advise using only the official app, avoiding unsolicited mass messaging, and adhering to WhatsApp’s policies to reduce the risk of future blocks.
