WhatsApp introduces guest calling feature for non-users

WhatsApp has launched a guest calling feature that allows individuals without a WhatsApp account to participate in audio and video calls. Participants can join via a link sent by an organizer, accessing the call through a web browser on a computer.

The feature supports both one-on-one and group calls with up to 32 participants. While guests can use screen sharing, emoji reactions, and the virtual hand-raise function, they cannot see the phone numbers of other participants, send text messages, or initiate calls themselves. All calls remain protected by end-to-end encryption.

To use the service, a registered user creates a link in the ‘Calls’ section and shares it. Guests enter their name in the browser and wait in a virtual waiting room for the organizer to grant access. Looking ahead, WhatsApp plans to integrate with Google Calendar and Outlook by the end of 2026 to streamline scheduling.
