WhatsApp introduces hands-free features for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Meta has begun distributing a major update for WhatsApp on the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay platforms. The update introduces several features designed to enhance driver safety and convenience by enabling hands-free operation.

Key functionalities include the ability for the application to read incoming text messages aloud through the vehicle's audio system. Drivers can also dictate responses using voice commands, reducing the need to touch a smartphone while driving.

Additionally, the update refreshes the in-car interface to include a call history view and quick access to favorite contacts directly from the vehicle's central display. The update is being rolled out gradually by region and device via the smartphone application, meaning no additional installation is required within the vehicle itself.
