WhatsApp introduces new chat themes and animated wallpapers for iOS

WhatsApp is expanding chat customization options for iOS users through a new update (version 26.33.73). The update introduces five distinct theme categories: Featured, Nature, Live, Minimalist, and Doodles.

For the first time, the application includes “Live” backgrounds, which feature slow animations designed to add dynamism without distracting from conversations. The “Nature” category offers visual landscapes such as mountains, forests, and seas, while “Minimalist” provides plain backgrounds for a clean interface. “Doodles” returns to the app’s traditional design patterns, and “Featured” offers curated recommendations.

When a theme is selected, the app automatically adjusts bubble colors to ensure readability and visual balance. According to WABetaInfo, these features are currently rolling out to some users via the Apple Store.
