WhatsApp introduces voice transcription and storage management features
WhatsApp users can utilize built-in features to manage voice messages and device storage more efficiently.
A transcription feature allows users to convert voice messages into text directly within the app. To enable this on both iPhone and Android, users must navigate to Settings, select Chats, and activate the “Transcripts of voice messages” option. Once enabled, users can long-press a message and select “Transcribe” to view the text content.
To address storage issues caused by accumulating media, iPhone users can prevent photos and videos from being automatically saved to their device's main photo gallery. By going to Settings, selecting Chats, and disabling “Save to Photos,” media will only be stored within the WhatsApp chat itself, preventing duplicate files. Additionally, WhatsApp provides a storage management tool under Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage, which allows users to identify and delete large files or specific media from individual chats.
