WhatsApp launches built‑in event scheduling tool for group chats

WhatsApp has added an "Event" function that lets users create and manage meetings directly inside chats. The feature records the event title, date, start‑time, optional end‑time, location, description and a link for virtual calls, and it allows participants to confirm attendance, decline or mark as tentative. Confirmed participants receive automatic reminders and can view all scheduled events in a dedicated screen.

The tool is currently rolling out on Android, iPhone, WhatsApp Web and Desktop, though availability may vary by account version. Users create an event via the attachment (paper‑clip) icon, edit or cancel only the original creator, and can see a list of all upcoming events by tapping the group name and selecting the Events section.
