WhatsApp provides tools for message recovery and storage management

WhatsApp users can manage their data through various built-in tools for message recovery and storage optimization. To recover deleted messages, the most reliable method is restoring a previous backup from Google Drive on Android or iCloud on iPhone. This requires uninstalling and reinstalling the application to trigger the restoration process, provided the backup was created before the messages were deleted.

To address low device storage, WhatsApp includes a storage management tool. Users can access this via Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage on both Android and iPhone. This feature allows users to identify which chats and specific large files, such as videos and documents, are consuming the most space, enabling targeted deletion to free up gigabytes of memory without necessarily deleting entire conversation histories.
