WhatsApp storage tools let users reclaim phone space

WhatsApp stores photos, videos, voice notes, documents, GIFs and stickers that accumulate over months and can occupy several gigabytes, leading to low‑storage warnings, blocked sticker downloads and difficulty installing new apps. Both Android and iPhone versions include a built‑in storage‑management screen (Settings → Storage and data → Manage storage) that lists files by size and category, letting users select and delete unwanted items. The app does not have a recycle bin; deleted files are removed permanently. Users can also limit future buildup by enabling temporary messages. To recover lost chats, WhatsApp relies on backups stored in Google Drive for Android or iCloud for iPhone; restoring a backup requires reinstalling the app and may discard messages received after the backup date.
