WhatsApp tests new central Events Hub in Android beta
WhatsApp is testing a new centralised ‘Events Hub’ within its Android beta version (2.26.36.5) to streamline how users manage appointments and invitations. Currently, events are tied to specific group or individual chats, requiring users to scroll through chat histories to find details. The new hub, located within the app settings, will provide a unified view of all events created by the user or received via invitation.
Through this hub, users can organize new events by providing a name, description, date, time, location, and custom images. The feature also supports setting reminders and generating call links. Notably, the update aims to make event participation more accessible by allowing users to share links that can be opened by individuals who do not have a WhatsApp account.
This development represents a shift for Meta’s messaging platform, moving event management from a secondary chat function toward a more robust, standalone organizational tool within the app.
